Drop the purse, ma'am: NFL restricts bags
RENTON, Wash. - The new league-wide bag policy goes into effect for the Seahawks versus Broncos preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 17. The new measures are designed to enhance public safety and expedite entry into the stadium, the Seahawks said in a press release.
Fans will be allowed to carry one of the following style and size bag, package, or container into CenturyLink Field, according to the NFL.
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: backpacks, purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, seat cushions with pockets, computer bags, diaper bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.
The team will staff three temporary Bag Check Stations, two in the north parking lot and one at the southwest entrance of the CenturyLink Field Event Center. Fans may choose to deposit their bag but must retrieve it within one hour of the completion of the game. Bags will be kept for 30 days and if remain unclaimed will be donated to a local non-profit, the Hawks said.
The NFL Committee on Stadium Security in May unanimously recommended the implementation of the bag restrictions to, "enhance public safety and make it easier for fans to gain access to all stadiums."
