Eatonville School District could lose funding for protecting unvaccinated staff members

The Eatonville School District in Pierce County could lose state funding for not terminating unvaccinated staff members.

The deadline for schools to comply with Gov. Jay Inslee's vaccination mandate in schools was last Monday. Last week, the school board debated terminating those staff members in order to comply, but decided to not take any action.

The state is expected to provide notice pressuring the district to comply and if they don't, the state could withhold or reduce the district's monthly payments.

The school district has made headlines over a measure that would digitally monitor possible COVID-19 contact between student-athletes. Back in September, middle school students reverted back to remote learning after a COVID outbreak.
