(CNN) -- An Air National Guard F-15C fighter jet has crashed in Virginia's Augusta County, National Guard and local sheriff's officials said.
The fate of the pilot and whether or not he ejected was not immediately known, Guard spokesman Capt. John Fesler said.
There were no reports of injuries on the ground, said Corrine Geller, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.
The state police got the call about the plane crash Wednesday morning, and smoke indicated the location of the crash, Geller said.
