Federal grand jury indicts former Spokane VA doctor on child sexual abuse charges
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted former Spokane VA Medical Center physician Craig Morgenstern on charges he traveled to Meridian, Miss., and filmed sexual acts with children.
Morgenstern on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to all charges in federal court.
The 46-year-old Morgenstern has been jailed without bond since last October, after allegations he drugged and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy at his home near Spokane.
The Spokesman-Review reports that the Washington State Department of Health has revoked his license to practice.
He now faces 14 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, 18 counts of production or attempted production of child pornography, two counts of transportation with intent to engage in sexual contact with a child, and two counts of receipt or possession of child pornography.
