SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. - Flash flooding has shut down a main road in a Skagit County community.
Skagit County officials say it is likely a beaver dam broke on Friday, leading to flooding in the Big Lake area. West Big Lake Boulevard is closed for the time being, and people are urged to avoid the area if they can.
Public Works crews will reevaluate the road on Monday.
Communities along the Skagit River were already bracing for flooding—areas like Concrete, Lyman, and Hamilton experienced minor flooding on Friday. Waters began to recede throughout one neighborhood in Hamilton. Some people who live near the river said they were still on guard since the flood warning remained in some parts of Skagit County.
