Food Network says it won't renew Paula Deen's contract

The Food Network announced today it is dropping Paula Deen - one of the network's most recognizable figures - following an uproar over her admitted use of a racial epithet for blacks and other racially tinged comments. "Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month," the network said in a statement.

The move came as Deen posted -- then apparently removed -- a video on YouTube in which she apologized for her actions and asked for forgiveness.
