Former Mariners help in annual toy drive

BELLEVUE --- Mariners broadcaster Rick Rizzs, and other former Mariners players and their families, participated in the 16th annual Toys For Kids Monday morning.

Together, with representatives of more than a dozen Seattle area organizations, they had a holiday shopping spree at the Toys R Us in Bellevue.

Toys For Kids was founded by former Mariners outfielder Dave Henderson and Rizzs 16 years ago. The non-profit raises money to buy toys and gifts for children in the greater Seattle area that might not otherwise receive them.

With the help of the Seattle Mariners RBI Club, which coordinates fundraising efforts for the non-profit, Toys For Kids raised a record $170,000 this year for the annual toy drive.
