Homeowners surprised when naked burglar climbs through window
SEATTLE -- A naked man who broke into a home early Tuesday morning in the University District and asked occupants if he could "crash" at their pad may have been on drugs, police said.
But really, does that surprise anyone?
Seattle police said they received a call of a burglar around 1 a.m. in the 5000 block of 8th Avenue NE. Homeowners said a nude man climbed through an open first floor window, and asked the occupants if a woman who didn't live at the address was home. When they said no, the man asked if he could "crash" at the house," police said.
The homeowners again said no and the suspect crawled back out the window.
Officers responded to the incident with a K-9 team and set up a perimeter around the home. They quickly spotted a man wearing jeans and no shirt and riding a bike. When officers approached the man, he allegedly ditched the bike and fled on foot. Police later found him on the roof of a home in the 700 block of NE 53rd Street.
The Seattle Fire Department responded to help the man off the roof and he was taken into custody. The man was taken to the hospital because drugs appeared to be a factor in the case, police said.
Police plan on holding the suspect in King County Jail following his release from the hospital.
