Interstate 90 reopens near Ritzville after body discovered

RITZVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near Ritzville have reopened after they were closed for about eight hours because of a homicide investigation.

The Washington State Patrol and the Adams County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a dead body found on or near the highway around 2:30 Tuesday morning at milepost 206. The highway was reopened shortly before 11 a.m.

State Patrol trooper Jeff Sevigney says officers initially received a call about a vehicle-pedestrian crash about 20 miles west of Ritzville. Once they arrived, they found the body and determined it was a case of homicide.

Sevigney says one man is in custody and there are no outstanding suspects.
