Knitting needle pierces puppy's heart, veterinarian miraculously saves 'Tutti' without surgery

DURHAM, North Carolina – Tutti, a 17-week-old puppy is an ‘incredibly lucky girl’ according to one Veterinary Hospital that treated her on New Year’s Eve.

“She had fallen onto a knitting needle and pierced her heart,” wrote the Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital on its Facebook page.

Tutti’s frantic owner rushed her to the animal hospital where a vet told them they could either operate or slowly pull the needle out of the puppy’s heart.

The owner chose the latter, cheaper, option according to WTVD-TV.

The procedure was a success and Tutti was allowed to go home the same day.

“She's an incredibly lucky girl - she's doing well and is now at home with her folks. Let's hope the rest of her year is less eventful,” wrote the vet on Facebook.
