Lacey girl says man tried to kidnap her outside her home
LACEY -- Police in Lacey are on the lookout for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 10-year-old girl.
It happened at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of Merkel Way NE in Lacey’s Thompson Place neighborhood.
The girl told police she was taking out the trash in her driveway when a man drove into her driveway, got out and grabbed her by the arm.
“Ten-year-old girl was taking the garbage out and a vehicle pulled up into the driveway and the driver got out and grabbed her by the arm and attempted to drag her back toward his vehicle,” Thurston County sheriff's Sgt. Ray Brady said.
The girl was able to get away and run back into her house.
Police searched the area with no luck and they’re worried the man is still on the loose.
The suspect is described as a young Hispanic man, 5-foot-8 with a skinny build, dark skin, and dark buzz cut.
He was driving an older, beat-up, dark green Honda-type vehicle, with peeling paint.
There was also a second Hispanic male in the passenger seat but the girl was not able to get a good description.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
