Lanes reopen after multi-vehicle crash closes southbound I-5 at SR 18

FEDERAL WAY -- A multi-vehicle crash closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at State Route 18 for about an hour Friday evening.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the crash closed all lanes around of I-5 around 6:00 p.m. as a Life Flight helicopter landed on the highway.

The HOV lane reopened at 6:35 p.m., and other lanes reopened shortly after that.

At least one serious injury was reported in the crash.

The length of back-up was not immediately reported, but officials encouraged alternative routes.
