Leaking peroxide in semi-truck sickens workers in Kent
KENT, Wash. (AP) — A leaking container in a semi-truck sent two people to local hospitals after they and three others were exposed to fumes.
The Kent Regional Fire Authority was called to 76 Avenue at 10:15 p.m. Thursday after five workers entered the back of a semi-truck where a plastic tote with 119 gallons of liquid organic peroxide had been leaking.
King County paramedics evaluated all five and two were taken to the hospital. The other three recovered after getting some fresh air.
Hazardous materials teams from around south King County responded to the call.
Once the leaking material was identified and isolated, clean up was turned over to a private company specializing in hazardous material spills.
