Loaded guns, ammo found at Sea-Tac checkpoints

Seattle-- Transpiration Security Administration officials recently made a disturbing discovery found at Sea-Tac Airport.

Officials confiscated loaded guns on two different passengers going through security.

Sea-Tac officials said the first firearm was found around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday morning. It was a .380 caliber Sig Sauer loaded with 8 rounds. TSA officers detected it in the carry-on bag of a male passenger headed to San Francisco International Airport.

The second firearm, a 9 mm Ruger loaded with seven rounds was discovered around 9 a.m. in the carry-on of a male passenger headed to Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

In a seperate incident, TSA officers discovered 56 rounds of ammunition in the carry-on bag of a man headed to Spokane International Airport.

The TSA says firearms in checked baggage must be unloaded and stored in a locked, hard-sided container. In addition to facing local or state charges, the TSA reserves the right to levy a civil penalty of up to $7,500 for bringing a dangerous weapon like a firearm to the checkpoint.
