Longview police officer injured by runaway cow
LONGVIEW, Wash. – A Longview police officer was injured Tuesday by an escaped cow that rammed two police car and a Humane Society vehicle.
Police said the officer injured his foot badly enough that he’ll be off full-duty patrol for a few weeks.
The incident started at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, when police got a complaint the cow was running loose. The owner found the cow, but the cow charged the owner and then rammed a police officer in the chest.
In a Facebook post Wednesday morning, police said they put the cow down at the request of the owner and with public safety in mind.
Police said they tried to use a stun-gun, but that didn’t work so they were forced to kill the cow because the department doesn’t own a tranquilizer gun.
