Man allegedly tried to run-down police before high-speed chase
GIG HARBOR -- The Pierce County Sheriff's Department has a suspect in custody following an officer-involved shooting and high-speed police chase Friday in Gig Harbor.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 1500 block of 65th Ave. NW when a man allegedly drove his black Dodge truck at an officer, nearly hitting the deputy. Police fired a gun at the suspect but just missed.
Police chased the man in his Dodge truck until he bailed from the vehicle in a neighborhood near the intersection of 54th Street and Sheridan Avenue and tried to hide in a shed. Police located the man and he was taken into custody.
Initial reports show police may have been called to the original scene to investigate a drug operation.
