Man dies after being shot in Mount Vernon, police investigating two crime scenes

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- A man died after being found shot in Mount Vernon and police are now investigating two crime scenes in the area.

Authorities say about 20 minutes before the man was found shot, neighbors reported a shooting just a few blocks away in the 300 block of E Section St.

Around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police say they found a 22-year-old man shot in the chest in the 1540 block of West Street. Medics rushed him to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Mount Vernon police are still investigating what may have led to the shooting.
