Man hit by Amtrak passenger train
BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- An Amtrak train struck a man walking the tracks illegally Sunday morning near Bellingham, Amtrak officials said.
A train leaving the Bellingham station around 10:10 a.m. headed to Vancouver, B.C. hit the man, described as a "trespasser," Amtrak officials said. The man was seriously injured.
His immediate condition was not known at 4 p.m. Sunday. No one on the train was injured. Passengers on the train were bused to Vancouver, officials said.
The Bellingham Police Department is investigating the incident.
