Man says he stalked 50 women before his arrest
Suspect's vehicle he allegedly used to help him stalk women
LAKEWOOD -- Police are looking for potential victims of a military member who allegedly told police he stalked as many as 50 women before his arrest Tuesday in Lakewood.
Police said the 34-year-old man was arrested after two women came forward recently to report a man in a white and tan truck was stalking them.
Earlier this week, police set up an unmarked car and spotted the vehicle allegedly trolling the area around the Pierce Transit Bus Center and Lakewood Towne Center for women. Police detained the man on suspicion of stalking and interviewed him.
The man allegedly told police he spotted women -- sometimes minors -- as they walked on the street while he waited in his truck. He would then honk his horn and wave his arms in order to get the women to come to his vehicle. If they did not, he allegedly continued to follow them. He said he did this as many as 50 times, even though only two women came forward to police.
Police said the man is a service member stationed at Joint-Base Lewis McChord, and he would often wear his Army or PT uniform when he stalked his victims. He allegedly told police he began his "stalking habits" in early January 2013.
The Lakewood Police Department is asking surrounding police agencies to check for similar incidents or unsolved cases involving the suspect. Other women who have been stalked by a brown and tan truck in the Lakewood-area are also asked to come forward.
