Mariners manager Eric Wedge on road to return
SEATTLE --
Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge will return to the dugout Friday and resume his skipper duties. The 45-year-old has been absent from the team for the past month after suffering a mild stroke during batting practice.
The Seattle Times is reporting that Wedge was warned by his doctors to continue on his regiment for the rest of his life and that he and his wife avoided something terrible by catching the stroke when it occurred.
Wedge has been sticking to a strict diet and exercise program as well as attending therapy sessions but he says the biggest thing he must do is curb his perfectionist tendencies.
The Mariners return home Friday for a six-game stint hosting the Angels and Rangers.
