Mariners rally in extras, take series from A's

SEATTLE -- Seattle Mariners' Kendrys Morales smacked a three-run homer off closer Grant Balfour as Seattle scored a 6-3, 10-inning win over the A's on Sunday.

The veteran D.H. hit the first pitch Grant Balfour threw him, a fastball that caught too much of the plate. The pitch was low. The result was high -- a towering fly that Morales golfed into the right field stands for the second walk-off homer of his major league career.

Raul Ibanez started the game at designated hitter in place of Morales and hit a pair of home runs for his second multi-homer game this season.  He has 17 home runs this year.

The Mariners have Monday off before taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates in an inter-league affair Tuesday.
