Mariners snap eight-game losing streak
SEATTLE -- The Seattle Mariners snapped their eight-game losing streak by beating the Rangers 4-3 on Sunday.
The Mariners were held scoreless until the bottom of the 6th inning, until Kendrys Morales hit a two-run home-run to center field that brought in Kyle Seager.
With the score tied at 2 runs a piece, the teams headed into extra innings. In the top of the 11th inning, Texas’ catcher A.J Pierzynski singles to left, scoring Elvis Andrus.
With doubts and an all too familiar scene starting to arise at Safeco, hopes were answered the very next inning, when in the bottom of 11th inning, Raul Ibanez hits a solo home run to tie the game at 3 runs each. Ibanez now has 9 homeruns on the year.
Finally in the bottom of the 13th inning, with Morales on 3rd base, Jason Bay singles to left field to drive in Morales for the run and the victory.
The Mariners have now won 2 of their last 10 games. Tomorrow, the San Diego Padres visit Safeco Field for a two game series. The Mariners now sit 11 games behind the lead in the American League West Division.
