Marysville Police; U.S. Marshals track down missing high-risk sex offender, John Stain
FUGITIVE CAPTURED September 30, 2013 -- Members of the Marysville Police Department pro-act team, with assistance from the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force, which is made up of personnel from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and United States Marshall’s Office, were able to develop information that led them to an apartment in Lynnwood -- where they arrested missing sex offender, John Stains. Officers gained access into the apartment and located Stains inside. He was taken into custody without incident. Stains was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a felony warrant and a new charge of failing to register as a sex offender. FUGITIVE WANTED IN MARYSVILLE September 27, 2013 -- Marysville Police are looking for high-risk sex offender, John Stains, who detectives say has been missing for weeks. Stains registered to live in the 4900 block of 61st St. in Marysville. Detectives went to the address on Thursday to conduct a routine monthly check, and were told Stains had taken off a couple weeks back, and had not returned. In 2009 Stains pled guilty to a sex crime in Snohomish County -- after sexually assaulting a woman who had let him stay at her home. He even threatened to kill the woman as he left her home. Marysville Police say Stains did not participate in sex offender treatment while in prison, and once made statements about a desire to abduct women from a trail, and sexually assault them. In addition to being wanted for failing to register, Stains has a felony Department of Corrections warrant for Escaping Community Custody.
