Crews battle massive 3-alarm fire at abandoned OR paper mill
OREGON CITY, Ore. - Firefighters battled a massive three-alarm fire that broke out at an abandoned paper mill near Portland, Oregon Thursday morning.

What we know:
Crews with the Clackamas Fire Department (CFD) responded to reports of a commercial fire near the corner of Main Street and McLoughlin Boulevard in Oregon City at around 3:46 a.m.
FOX 12 reports that the fire occurred on the Blue Heron site, an abandoned paper mill now owned by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde as part of their effort to reclaim ancestral lands.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Highway 99 was closed in both directions in Oregon City between mileposts 12 and 13. During the fire, crews expressed concerns about the flames spreading toward downtown or up the hill toward a residential neighborhood.
ODOT is urging travelers to expect a lengthy closure with detours in place.

By 7:56 a.m., the fire was declared under control.
