SHELTON, Wash. (AP) — The Mason County Sheriff's Office is investigating a two-car collision near Shelton that killed a woman and injured a male driver.
Detective William Adam says 53-year-old Andrea Tyrone of Shelton died in Monday evening's crash. Witnesses reported seeing her car cross the center lane and crash head-on into a pickup truck driving in the opposite direction.
Adam says preliminary reports show Tyrone may have had medical issues that could have been a factor in the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck, 47-year-old Brian Phipps of Shelton, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is in the hospital intensive care unit in stable condition.
A spokesman with the Mason County coroner's office says it's too early to know what medical conditions Tyrone may have had. An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday.
