Vehicles of missing Arlington couple found near Oso

DARRINGTON, Wash. -- Two vehicles belonging to a missing Arlington couple were found Thursday in a remote, wooded area in the Oso area and appeared to have gone over an embankment, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

The vehicles were found by the sheriff's  Search and Rescue helicopter, SnoHAWK10, spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

Patrick Shunn, 45, and his wife,  Monique Patenaude, 46, of Arlington, have not been seen since late Monday and were reported missing by their neighbors on Tuesday afternoon. Investigators said their two vehicles were missing also.

Detectives started looking around the couple's home, and have been expanding their search area since. They say the vehicles are in a heavily wooded area, so ground crews have not been able to reach them yet. They hope they'll be able to access them Friday and search for clues.

Detectives have not yet located Shunn and Patenaude and continue to investigate their disappearance, Ireton said.

Shunn was last seen at his workplace in Kirkland on Monday, but did not report for work the next day.  Patenaude was last seen around 1 p.m. on Monday near the couple’s residence at the 27800 block of Whitman Road, Ireton said.
