Mother shot dead by bail bondsman serving warrant on her son, deputies say

GRAHAM, Wash. -- Deputies say a woman was shot and killed by a bail bondsman after she brandished a weapon as her son was being taken into custody.

Officials were called to the report of a shooting around 9 a.m. on 260th St E just east of Meridian Ave E.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says that three bail bondsman went to the home in Graham to serve a warrant against the woman's 30-year-old son for violating a protection order against the woman.

After the bondsmen had the man in custody, the sheriff's office says the woman came out of a back room with a weapon and would not drop it, at which point a bail bondsman first tased her, and then shot her.

Deputies said she was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. She has not yet been identified.

The bondsman was not arrested. The woman's son, who also wasn't identified, was taken into custody.

No further details were immediately released.
