Motorcyclist involved in fatal West Seattle accident
SEATTLE -- A man in his 60s was killed while driving a motorcycle early Friday morning in West Seattle.
The man was driving his motorcycle when he entered the intersection of California Avenue SW and SW Oregon Street and collided with a red Jeep Liberty traveling northbound on California. Police said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if the driver of the Jeep was injured.
The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The intersection was closed at 5 a.m. Friday morning as police investigated the crash. The Jeep's driver was given a field sobriety test, but it is unknown if this was part of standard procedure or because the driver exhibited signs of intoxication.
