Nice bike. Wait a minute, that's MY bike! Trooper recovers stolen wheels

Just weeks after selling his bicycle online,  a Washington State Trooper spotted it in a car that had broken down on the side of the road.  And it wasn't the guy he sold it to.

Just after 9:00 am, on April 25th the trooper resonded to reports of  disabled vehicle blocking a lane on State Route 523 near 12th Ave. NE.   He found the driver, a 34 year old Seattle man, frantically attempting to change the tire on his  Honda Accord.  As the driver dug around in the car the trooper noticed the bicycle with the serial numbers ground off, a grinder and a Ruger handgun.  Another trooper arrived, and immediately recognized the bike by the scratches on the frame, as the one he had sold weeks earlier.  The driver said it belonged to him.

Confident it was the same bike, the trooper found the contact number for the original buyer, a college student from Capitol Hill, who confirmed the bike was stolen from his house just days after he bought it.  The stolen bicycle was later returned to its rightful owner.

The driver of the Honda was booked into King County Jail on a felon with a firearm charge.
