NY mom accused of tossing baby out 7th story window

NEW YORK — A 33-year-old woman has been charged with murder in the death of her newborn baby girl after the child was allegedly thrown from the 7th floor window of an apartment building in the Bronx on Monday.

Officials say the baby, her umbilical cord still attached to her tiny body, was still alive when she was tossed from the building, according to WPIX.

The baby was later pronounced dead at the scene around 2:30 p.m.

Jennifer Berry, of Gailmore Drive in Yonkers, was charged Tuesday with second degree murder and manslaughter.

New York City Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson said the baby died from multiple blunt force injuries. Sources tell WPIX that the injuries were consistent with being thrown out of the window.

Berry was a Child Protective Specialist with Administration for Children's Services back in 2007 for about six months, the organization tells WPIX. Sources tell WPIX her contact with families was limited.
