Ordinance wants to allow 'drone hunting'
Seattle shot down drone usage by the city’s police department late last year, but that’s nothing compared to one U.S. town which is declaring open season on unmanned aircraft.
City leaders in Deer Trail, Colorado are considering an ordinance allowing drone hunting.
According to the Washington Times, if passed, the law would allow for locals to shoot drones out of the sky. Some have even pledged cash prizes to hunters who score a kill.
The Washington Times indicates there’s been no known reports of drones in the skies above Deer Trail and that’s how city leaders want to keep it.
More than 30 municipalities have taken action against drones by establishing rules about where they can or cannot fly and limiting their capabilities.
Deer Trail’s town council plans to take action on the ordinance at a meeting Tuesday night.
In February, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn killed a controversial plan to allow the Seattle Police Department to use drones as crime-fighting tools after a series of heated public meetings.
