Oregon shooting hero Chris Mintz released from hospital
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Army veteran injured while trying to save lives during the Umpqua Community College shooting was released from the hospital Thursday.
Chris Mintz was shot seven times while putting himself in the doorway between the gunman and his classmates.
The 30-year-old left Mercy Medical Center a week after the mass shooting. A funding account for Mintz had raised around $800,000.
Nine people were killed in the attack. The shooter killed himself after police shot him.
Authorities credit a quick response by law enforcement for keeping the death toll from climbing higher.
Mercy Medical Center told KPTV that Cheyeanne Fitzgerald is the only patient who remains in their care. She was listed in fair condition.
