Police: 14-year-old shot in arm during gunfight

FEDERAL WAY -- A 14-year-old boy is in the hospital after he was shot in the shoulder during an apparent gunfight, police said.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, officers received calls of a shooting around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of 288th Street. Once on scene, they found the injured boy, who was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police they heard neighbors arguing, then heard gunshots. Unfortunately, witnesses accounts were wide-ranging, and police were still trying to get a handle on what occurred, police said.

Officers said it's possible three weapons were used in the gunfight.

Police said 288th Street near Pacific Highway South was blocked for some time during the investigation. It has since reopened.
