Police called to report of literal drunk skunk

OXFORD, Ohio – What happens when an old idiom comes literally true?
That’s the question in Oxford Ohio this week where a police officer was called to reports of an actual skunk that appeared to be drunk.
According to the department’s facebook page it was the first call of the day September 14th.
“ involved this little fella staggering all over the area near the Beta House,” wrote a police staffer on Facebook. “He was drunk as a skunk.”
Oxford is home to Miami University and the skunk was reportedly discovered near campus with its head stuck in a can of Miller Lite.
Gawker reported that an animal control officer was called to the scene and was able to free the skunk back into the wild.
Which leads us back to the question of truth in idioms.
How drunk should we say this skunk really is if he literally is drunk as a skunk?
