Police: Girl, 9, accidentally shoots gun instructor in head

Dolan Springs, AZ (KVVU) -- Deputies said a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot a gun instructor in the head Monday morning at a range in Dolan Springs.

The shooting happened about 10 a.m. at an outdoor range in the 20600 block of North Highway 93.

Mohave County deputies said the girl was at the range with her parents when a gun she had fired. The shot hit the 39-year-old instructor in the head.

The instructor was flown to a Las Vegas-area hospital for treatment. Neither his identity nor his condition were immediately released.

This case is under investigation, deputies said.
