Police: Oregon man used baseball bat to kill father
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) _ Authorities say an Oregon man accused of a rampage that left three people dead this weekend used a baseball bat in the attack on his parents that killed his father.
Springfield police Sgt. David Lewis told The Register-Guard (http://bit.ly/215KVfR ) on Wednesday that a bat was the only weapon used in Sunday's attack.
Lewis says 31-year-old Michael Jefferson Bryant also killed the family's two dogs and torched their home. His mother was injured.
Police say Bryant then stole their SUV and ran down three pedestrians, killing two of them and seriously injuring a third.
Bryant faces several charges, including aggravated murder. His attorney, Conor Huseby, declined to comment, saying he hadn't yet seen police reports.
Huseby says his client will enter a plea at a hearing that hasn't been scheduled yet.
