Police: Shoreline teen tried to shoot dad with crossbow
SHORELINE -- A teen is behind bars, after allegedly trying to shoot his father with a crossbow.
Prosecutors in King County say Tristan Olson tried to feather his father after he refused to let the 18-year-old drive the family car on Dec. 17. He also threatened to kill him, according to the charging papers.
Police say Olson refused to wake up until 1:30 p.m. then demanded the car keys. His father refused, since Olson slept the day away and didn't do his homework. That's when he picked up the crossbow, and told his father, "don't make me do something I am going to regret."
Holding the loaded crossbow, Olson again demanded the keys. When the father turned to walk away, he heard the crossbow fire, and the bolt slammed into a wall near his head.
Olson then tackled his father and punched and kicked him on the floor. Then, before police arrived, he spit at and blew his nose on his father.
This wasn't Olson's first arrest; he was previously convicted of stealing a rifle and body armor out of a federal agent's car.
He told police following this arrest that he only wanted to scare his father, for "pushing his buttons."
In a release, senior deputy prosecutor David Ryan described Olson as a threat to the community, "who believes he faces no consequences for his actions."
Olson has been charged with second-degree assault and was initially jailed on $100,000 bail, but was released Monday after posting bond.
