TACOMA -- A 17-year-old teenager was shot and killed in the 9200 block of S. Hosmer Street in Tacoma Monday night, police said.

No suspect was immediately found. The Pierce County Medical Examiner's office identified the teen as Jatarius Tolbert.

Tacoma police officer Loretta Cool said a call came in at 8:34 p.m. of multiple shots being fired near the Springhaven Village Apartments.

The victim was found shot in the head in a parking lot. Cool said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case is being treated as a homicide, Cool said.

The shooting was likely not random, Cool said, and neighbors shouldn't feel that they are in danger.

"I have a feeling that this (shooting death) is probably not random," she said.
