Racist graffiti on Central District church walls after break-in

SEATTLE – Police are investigating after racist graffiti was found on the walls of a church in Seattle’s Central District.

The racist graffiti was found on the walls of Curry Temple CME church right before Sunday morning service.

Parishoners believe someone entered the church sometime between Friday evening and Sunday morning and sprayed swastikas, the “N” word and “Go Back to Africa” inside.  A file cabinet was also broken into.

Rev. Beverly Jackson said though they are angry and hurt, the church doors will not close,

“We are not down and we are not out. We are still going to be here, we are going to worship, we are going to praise God and we are going to continue to help the community,” she said.

Seattle police have not announced any arrests in the case.
