Revamped 'Click it or Ticket' campaign to target cell phones
SEATTLE-- The Click it or Ticket is coming back.
Between May 20 and June 2 authorities will be out in force statewide looking for drivers who don't wear seatbelts.
This year, there will be extra emphasis on distracted drivers, especially those who are using their cell phones while behind the wheel. Last year, officers issued 3,171 seat belt violations and 1,059 cell phone violations.
The extra patrols are part of Target Zero, a campaign to end traffic deaths and serious injuries in Washington by 2030.
