Rhododendron Festival float bursts into flames minutes after Port Orchard parade
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- Shortly after appearing in the Fathoms O' Fun Parade on Saturday, the Rhododendron Festival float burst into flames.
Organizers say nobody was hurt in the fire, but the float was destroyed. This happened just after the parade as the float was on its way back to the trailer.
"It just burst into flames after they were all off of it -- thank goodness," said Lisa Jensen of the Rhododendron Festival Association.

It's unclear how the fire started, but the float is a total loss.
The group's new sound system, many personal belongings, and even the President's Award they had just won were all destroyed.
Now, the group is focusing on moving forward and building a new float as soon as possible.
Organizers say they have six more parades this festival season, including Seafair in just a few weeks.
"We are overwhelmed by all the warm wishes, comfort, and concern we have received from all of you and especially from all the other Festivals! THANK YOU!!" the group wrote " target="_blank">on their Facebook page.
Late Sunday, organizers from Spokane's Lilac Festival offered to let the Rhody Festival use their second float for the remainder of the season.
