Runners and walkers out for Pride
SEATTLE -- Kicking off what could be a week of major Supreme Court rulings on same-sex marriage, runners and walkers filled Seward Park Sunday morning for the annual Run and Walk with Pride 2013.
The high court is expected to issue a series of decisions this week, including on California's Proposition 8 that bans same-sex marriage and the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
The Run and Walk With Pride is an annual community event, which includes a fun 4K walk, 4K run and 10K run. Each year a local non-profit GLBT organization is chosen as a beneficiary for the fundraising run/walks. This year Seattle Area Support Group and Social OutReach Seattle were chosen.
Next weekend, the Seattle PrideFest 2013 takes over Capitol Hill on Saturday with Pridefest Family Day at Cal Anderson Park. On Sunday June 30, Pridefest continues at the Seattle Center, with the annual Pride Parade at 11 a.m., which starts at 4th Avenue and Union Street and proceeds north to the Seattle Center.
