Seattle beaches could be turned into off-leash dog parks
SEATTLE -- Dog owners rejoice! There could be more off-leash dog parks coming to Seattle.
In a meeting Thursday, the Seattle Board of Park Commissioners discussed turning more beaches into off-leash parks.
Many dog owners said the parks are desperately needed to accommodate Seattle's growing dog population.
Under the proposal, any new off-leash parks would have to be fenced in areas.
It would also require dog walkers to get a dog walking license, and take animal training courses if they want to walk more than three dogs at a time.
Currently, there are 14 off-leash parks in the city or about 28 acres of space for dogs to roam free.
