Seattle home values up 11.8%

SEATTLE -- Home values in the Seattle metro area have shot up 11.8 percent since May of 2012, real estate website Zillow reported. That compares to a 5.4 percent increase in home values nationwide.

Everett home values had the greatest increase over the last year with a growth of 22.8 percent, according to Zillow. Tacoma saw the lowest growth at 6.5 percent year-to-year.

The numbers reflect the median value for all homes in the area, not just those that have recently sold. Zillow predicts slower growth in home values over the  next year, with a 7.4 percent increase forecasted for Seattle.
