Seattle weather: warm and smoky start to the work week

FOX 13 meteorologist Stephen Kilbreath has your seven-day forecast.

Western Washington is set for a warm and occasionally hazy start to the week before cooler temperatures and potential rain arrive by the weekend.

A northerly wind flow is pushing wildfire smoke into western Washington, creating hazy conditions across the sky despite sunny conditions at the surface. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s across the Puget Sound region, including 78 degrees in Seattle and Bellingham.

Areas in the South Puget Sound will reach the low 80s, with Tacoma expecting 81 degrees, Olympia at 83 degrees, and Centralia hitting 86 degrees. Coastal regions and areas north of Everett will remain cooler in the low 70s, with Port Angeles reaching 71 degrees and Long Beach seeing 72 degrees.

Eastern mountain passes and interior locations will see warmer conditions, including 81 degrees at Snoqualmie Pass, 85 degrees in Cle Elum, and 90 degrees in Wenatchee.

Temperatures will peak on Tuesday during the warmest day of the week. Highs will climb into the upper 80s for most of the Puget Sound region, with Seattle hitting 86 degrees after an overnight low of 57 degrees.

South Puget Sound will see temperatures near 90 degrees, while coastal areas and regions north of Everett stay in the upper 70s. Hazy conditions will persist into Tuesday before conditions shift on Wednesday.
