Seattle weather: Smoky skies return to start the work week

A ridge of high pressure will begin building into our region on Monday.  The hot, dry conditions will lead to a high fire risk as critical burn conditions settle in through Tuesday. 

Fire risk will be increasing on Monday and Tuesday.

Western Washington has been lucky the last week with a nice stretch of cleaner air thanks to the westerly winds.  The winds will swing around to more of an easterly wind early this week.  Skies will be hazy as more wildfire smoke blows back into Western Washington.

Offshore flow will push some smoke, leading to hazy skies on Monday and Tuesday.

The offshore flow will lead to a big warm-up on Monday and Tuesday.  Highs will be nearing 80 degrees around Seattle with even warmer temperatures in the foothills and to the south.

Afternoon highs will be warming up as we start the workweek. 

The beginning of the workweek will heat up to near 90 degrees by Tuesday.  Another weak disturbance will swing through on Wednesday and Thursday with a slight chance of showers.
