Sedro-Woolley boy fatally shot, police looking for suspect
SEDRO-WOOLLEY - A 4-yr-old boy was fatally shot at his home in the 1000 block of Township Street in Sedro-Woolley just after 7 a.m. Sunday morning. The boy was transported to Skagit Valley hospital in Mount Vernon where he was pronounced dead.
Police initially thought the boy had gotten hold of an unsecured gun and accidentally shot himself. The Skagit County medical examiner later determined that the shooting was not accidental.
Sedro-Woolley police are treating the shooting as a homicide and are looking for a 25-year-old man said Police Chief Doug Wood said. The suspect is reportedly the boyfriend of the boy's mother and Wood said that after the after the shooting the boyfriend fled the home and took the gun with him.
The boy's name has not been released.
