Sound Transit moves up timeline on extending light rail lines
SEATTLE - Several local cities would get light rail sooner than expected under changes made to Sound Transit's ST3 plan Thursday.
After hearing widespread support for completing projects sooner, Sound Transit's board today revised the plan.
It would bring light rail to Paine Field in Everett five years sooner than previously expected.
Redmond and Federal Way would get it four years sooner.
In Ballard, West Seattle and Tacoma, rail line extensions would open three years earlier than previously announced.
Other changes in the revised ST3 plan:
A final vote is June 23rd at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting.
If approved, it would go to the voters in November.
