Sounders FC to face off against rival Timbers
SEATTLE -- On Sunday night, CenturyLink Field will hold the largest crowd this MLS season as more than 66,500 tickets have been sold for the Seattle Sounders FC match against rival Portland Timbers.
This is the second meeting between the teams this season. Earlier this year, the two ended in a 1-1 draw that marked the home debut of Obafemi Martins for Seattle. Sunday's match will mark the same occasion for the Sounders new designated player Clint Dempsey. The U.S. National Team captain signed with the club August 3rd.
The Sounders FC - Timbers rivalry dates back to 1975 in the North American Soccer League. Seattle owns a 41-28-11 edge. In the MLS, Sounders FC leads at 2-1-3 while outscoring the Timbers 10-7.
Game is set for Sunday, August 25th at 7 pm Pacific Time.
