Storm beat Sun, 78-66
UNCASVILLE, Conn.-- The Seattle Storm defeated the Connecticut Sun 78-66 Sunday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Seattle was paced by Tina Thompson’s 17 points and four rebounds. Shekinna Stricklen tied her career-high for the third time in her WNBA career, pouring in 16 points on 7-12 shooting. Camille Little added 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Connecticut was led by Alison Hightower, who scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds. Tina Charles added 15 points and Kara Lawson chipped in with 11 points.
The Sun held a one-point lead after the first quarter, 19-18. Stricklen scored six straight points to start the second quarter, leading Seattle to a 40-33 halftime lead. Early in the fourth quarter, Connecticut pulled within six on a layup by Izaine Castro-Marques to close the score to 59-53, but Seattle responded, rattling off six straight points to go on to the 78-66 win.
Seattle shot 50% from the field, including 6-13 (46%) from deep. The Storm held Connecticut to 25 of 61 from the field, good for 41%, and 2-10 from downtown, just 20%. Seattle outrebounded the Sun 35-27 and dished out more assists, 14-12.
